Chien-Wen Lin – Fringe Taiwan (Signed)

“Fringe Taiwan” is a photography book by Chien-Wen Lin, shot in Taiwan from 2016 to 2024. It documents the social changes in Taiwan before and after the passage of the marriage equality law.

Through the perspective of a cisgender gay man, the book reveals the conflicts and struggles in the process of identity formation, reflecting Taiwan’s isolation on the international stage. The book presents the imperfect beauty of marginal corners through still lifes, portraits, and scenes, showcasing the marginalization of the LGBTQ+ community in Taiwan. It is dedicated to friends who feel oppressed and lonely due to their identity.
