‘Hjemstavn’ has been created to mark the 700th anniversary of Skive as a market town and is a personal photographic narrative from the Skive region – about origins, identity, memory and a sense of belonging. The book takes its starting point in a specific place: the Limfjord, the landscapes, the family, the archives, the animals and the people who, each in their own way, carry the region within them. Yet it also poses a broader and more universal question: to what extent are we shaped by the place we come from?
The photobook contains portraits, landscapes, objects and images from old albums. The photographs oscillate between the documentary, the staged and the remembered, and together paint a complex picture of a region where history, closeness, distance, vulnerability and pride stand side by side.
