Søren Solkær – Passage (Signed)

“PASSAGE is a series of photographs of moments from on my countless flight journeys. A decade and a half of photographing international artists has taken me on multiple trips across the globe resulting in a lot of airborne time. Photographing the airplane wing repetitively became a ritual, a meditation – and well, an obsession.

PASSAGE is a testament to my nomadic lifestyle. In our online world the airplane has become one of the very few sacred spaces disconnected from outside stimuli. Air travel could be the last fortress of solitude. I cherish this space for deep concentration and time to reflect for extended periods of time. PASSAGE embraces the moment as
well as the anticipation of new territories and adventures ahead.

With the development in aviation, I feel the timing is right to release some of my more than 35.000 photos in a fine art book. For many years air transportation was considered an exclusive setting for jetsetters and cosmopolitans.
Then it became a symbol of one of the biggest sinners for the climate changes we experience. Entering the third stage with COVID19, we’re starting to perceive it as something bygone, a world that will never be the same.
